Dhoni and Rohit elected as the all-time great captains of IPL

Charismatic captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings and Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians were jointly declared as the greatest captain of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday.

These two players were selected by a selection committee of 50 people from Star Sports, which included 20 former cricketers, 10 sports journalists, 10 statisticians and 10 analysts.

Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have managed to reach 10 of 11 playoffs in the IPL. The team has been a three-time champion and runner-up five times. Rohit took charge of Mumbai Indians in 2013 and made him a four-time champion.

AB de Villiers of South Africa was adjudged the greatest batsman of all time while Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka was adjudged the greatest bowler of all time. Australia's Shane Watson was voted the best all-rounder while Stephen Fleming was named the best coach.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Indian captain Virat Kohli were adjudged the greatest Indian batsmen. Kohli has scored 5412 runs in 177 IPL matches. The 13th season of IPL has been postponed indefinitely due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.
